Lead Driller

We are looking for a Lead Driller to operate our Environmental/Geotechnical drill units, with competency in: SPT sampling, hollow stem, solid stem, direct push methods, casing work, and DTH Air Hammering

Lead Driller Position Details

Position Type: Full Time, permanent position – 40-60 hours per week, with no weekend work
Benefits: Comprehensive Benefits Package (Extended Health Care, Life, Dental, Vision)
Salary: Competitive Hourly Wage ($30-$40 per hour, based on experience)
Overtime Pay:
OT Rates over 44hrs/week
RRSP: RRSP’s with Employer Contributions

Role Responsibilities

  • Complete work based on scope provided without onsite supervision
  • Set up and disassemble work sites with the help of an assistant
  • Communication with the driller’s assistant to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Identify and address safety or environmental hazards
  • Communicate with Clients to ensure their needs are met
  • Identify necessary maintenance of equipment, complete if within abilities
  • Maintain operational logs, such as daily work sheet and vehicle log

Role Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Well Technician Course is preferred, with MOE Well Technician License Class 3 an asset
  • Drilling experience preferred  
  • First Aid/CPR, WHMIS preferred
  • Mechanically inclined
  • DZ license with Air Brake or above

What To Consider

Drilling can be hard physical work, and outdoor conditions, such as extreme temperatures, weather, wildlife may need to be navigated. Our work sites range from downtown streets in cities, to remote locations not accessible by road vehicles. There may be times our contracts take our crews out of town for a few days (accommodations and meal allowance taken care of by CEDC)
